IRISL, Norwegian risk management company clinch MOU
TEHRAN- The Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) and the Norwegian international certification body and classification society, DNV GL, signed a cooperation agreement in Tehran, IRIB news reported on Saturday.
On the way to ease regular commute of Iranian vessels and ships from and to major international and European ports, the signed MOU requires DNV GL to issue international certifications for Iranian vessels after conducting legal inspections.
During the signing ceremony of the deal, the IRISL Managing Director as well as Chairman of the Board Mohammad Saeidi expressed hope that the accorded MOU would pave the ground for future IRISL-DNV GL cooperation, especially following the removal of the international embargo against Iran.
The DNV GL director, for his part, underlined the necessity of expanding the bilateral ties between the two companies, vowing that his side will provide Iranian ships with quality services.
DNV GL is an international certification body and classification society with main expertise in technical assessment, advisory, and risk management. It is the world's largest classification society with 13,175 vessels and mobile offshore units (MOUs) amounting to a gross tonnage of 265.4 million in its portfolio, which represents a global market share of 21 percent.
